Madness intensifies. Turns out my theory about config.plist being broken was correct.

I headed over to RehabMan's GitHub and downloaded this https://github.com/RehabMan/HP-ProBook-4x30s-DSDT-Patch/blob/master/config/config_4x30s.plist as my last try before giving up for today.

Then I replaced its SMBIOS section (<key>SMBIOS</key>) with the section generated by PBI (had to mount my EFI partition for this) and added its Graphics section as well (<key>Graphics</key>, wasn't present in the downloaded GitHub version).

Then I removed the config.plist from my EFI partition (backup!) and put edited / merged config_4x30s.plist in its place, renaming it properly to config.plist.

It booted!

Had to remove the RehabMan-Generic-USB3-2015-1215.zip kext however ("GenericUSBXHCI" something), because apparently with the new config.plist it breaks USB 3.0 rather than fixes it.

Other than that all my problems seem to be fixed now. Even audio now works, and backlight.

Well, that was just nuts xD

I hope all guides would be updated soon.

Are they related to PBI being outdated? Used the 6.4.6 one. Fixed the USB 3.0 issue, but cannot boot from HDD and no audio on 10.10.5. Any help?

Try to determine what was wrong with the config.plist generated by PBI.

Please note that the config.plist you mention is not intended for final install. It is missing important patches.

Your system is damaged. Probably ancient kexts installed...

Do a fresh install.
 
i followed the guide carefully. but i cannot get dualboot working.

my bios doesnt have the customized UEFI boot entry. Is this maybe smth they removed with the newest bios revs.?

i executed PBE several times. therefore a have multiple files.. is it appropriate to delete the whole clover entry and run PBE once more?

thanks for your advice!

You need to rename bootmgfw.efi.

Thanks for your advice. booting directly to clover works like that, but i cannot boot Windows anymore (see screenshot). i tried adding the entries manually. i edited clover configurator like you adviced in another thread (with UUID from my windows partition (disk0s5) and path \Windows\..\bootmgfw.efi etc.) but no success..
thanks again for your help.
