Testing Thread: Skylake Platform in OS X

I'm not sure why everyone is so down on how Skylake works.

I've ordered a USB 2.0 PCI card and a ASM1061 SATA PCIe card on eBay for around $15. Assuming that both of these work—and I'm expecting them to based on what I've read—I'll be perfectly happy.

There's one caveat to this though -- graphics cards don't work properly. That's pretty huge.

If you've already bought some new Skylake Hardware, Install a copy of windows on it
and run some benchmarks and test your hardware thoroughly. Do some DX 12 gaming and enjoy
your new system rather than doing this
:banghead: because skylake support in El Capitan is so limited right now. Support in El Cap will be there we just don't know when it will.


 
Well 10.11.2 public beta is now out. I assume the public beta rules apply that it's ok to discuss? I'd be curious if the results this yields.
 
It's already been stated in this thread that 10.11.2 doesn't make a difference, unless something has changed in the Public Beta.

I personally think that there's something else going on beyond a lack of native support.

That Apple has implemented some code to block hackintoshs with Skylake CPUs only?
 
If we're hypothesizing, my best guess is it has something to do with the PCI bus/pci power management. That would explain the widespread issues since everything goes through pcie
