[Guide] ASUS ZENBOOK UX305FA using Clover UEFI

Status
Not open for further replies.
Did you follow the ACPI patching guide (applied all common patches?)

Did you implement native CPU PM?

Controlling power for BT is only available with supported bluetooth (primarily Broadcom).

i see. too bad about the BT thing, i'll have to wait for my dell wireless card to arrive from hong kong. : /

AFAIK i followed your guide to the letter. i've deleted all the files not named DSDT/SSDT*, deleted the files with an x in their names, applied all the patches to the DSDT.dsl (wouldn't even compile otherwise, although some were not needed), and used the refs.txt method on the rest. as per jhawk's guide, applied the "Remove _PSS placeholders" patch to SSDT-2.dsl. all compiled with only warnings. then i've saved them as binary to the 'patched' folder on the EFI partition.
the only part that might be relevant and missing on my end is this: IAOE: If this SSDT is present, it is usually accessed from DSDT in _PTS and _WAK. Sleep may not work properly without it.
however, clover hasn't extracted any file named IAOE. those are only in my DSDT.

i'm not sure about implementing native CPUPM. your guide says to *not* drop the OEM SSDT and instead exclude the files that have
_PR.CPUx in them. however, jhawk's clover config.plist does have DropOEM true in it. i'm a little confused..

DropOem=true must be used to use patched SSDTs in ACPI/patched.

But you still include all SSDTs (patched appropriately).

i suppose i have done everything right then. or am i supposed to apply the same patches to the SSDT files as those those to the DSDT: 'HPET fix', 'SMBUS fix' etc.?

EDIT: doesn't really matter, since all come out empty. ; )

EDIT2: here are my logs, i can't spot any real difference, but maybe someone can:

...or am i supposed to apply the same patches to the SSDT files as those those to the DSDT: 'HPET fix', 'SMBUS fix' etc.?

No.

Please describe problem in detail.

Download patchmatic: https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-maciasl-patchmatic/downloads/RehabMan-patchmatic-2015-0107.zip
Extract the 'patchmatic' binary from the ZIP. Copy it to /usr/bin, such that you have the binary at /usr/bin/patchmatic.

In terminal,
Code:
if [ -d ~/Downloads/RehabMan ]; then rm -R ~/Downloads/RehabMan; fi
mkdir ~/Downloads/RehabMan
cd ~/Downloads/RehabMan
patchmatic -extract

Note: It is easier if you use copy/paste instead of typing the commands manually.

Post contents of Downloads/RehabMan directory (as ZIP).

Also, post ioreg: http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/58368-guide-how-make-copy-ioreg.html. Please, use the IORegistryExplorer v2.1 attached to the post! DO NOT reply with an ioreg from any other version of IORegistryExplorer.app.

And output from:
Code:
kextstat|grep -y acpiplat
kextstat|grep -y appleintelcpu
kextstat|grep -y applelpc

Also, post EFI/Clover folder.

yes sir.

detailed explanation:

on battery power (cable unplugged), the machine goes to sleep in a few seconds, and stays that way. this is indicated by the short flashes of the power LED on the right side and the power button. it sleeps fine regardless of how it's put to sleep: lid close, fn-F1, or apple menu item.

on mains power (cable plugged in) however, it seems to sleep for a few milliseconds, then the power light comes back again. for the display to wake, a keypress is needed.

my ioreg, zipped EFI/EFI/CLOVER (excluding the themes) and RehabMan directory are attached.

output from kextstat:
Code:
[B]mir:~ root# kextstat | grep -y acpiplat[/B]
   13 2 0xffffff7f821a0000 0x60000 0x60000 com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform (4.0) 295F7A91-2DF7-3FFE-9550-A0C1A6F9D575 <12 11 7 6 5 4 3 1>
[B]mir:~ root# kextstat | grep -y appleintelcpu
[/B][B]mir:~ root# kextstat | grep -y applelpc
[/B] 100 0 0xffffff7f81df9000 0x3000 0x3000 com.apple.driver.AppleLPC (3.1) 0C90B22D-637B-3000-8C44-B7955D57E10A <82 12 5 4 3>

It is "instant wake". Your DSDT lacks the necessary patch (_PRW 0x6D).

See guide:

http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capitan-laptop-support/152573-guide-patching-laptop-dsdt-ssdts.html

i beg to differ. back when i was using jhawk's DSDT i had the same exact problem, and when i try to apply your 'USB3_PRW(0x6D) and Rename XHC to XHC1' patch to mine, i get empty before and after fields. the same goes for 0x0D.

however i did notice that i don't have neither AppleUSBXHCI *nor* GenericUSBXCHI kext in my S/L/E. my usb works fine, though..

Wrong.

I just tested the patch against the DSDT you provided. It works.

I just tested the patch against the DSDT you provided. It works.

but your guide explicitly says not to open .aml files in MaciASL, use the generated .dsl files insted. and although the patch can be applied to the decompiled .aml file, it does diddlysquat on the .dsl file which produced the .aml to begin with.

should i just patch the decompiled .aml, save it back and be done with it? : )

EDIT: btw, will i need an AppleUSBXHCI.kext in S/L/E? it's really not there..

No idea without seeing said files.

I disassembled the files you provided with 'iasl -da -dl *.aml' as described in my guide.

It is there. It is a plugin of IOUSBFamily.kext (IOUSBHostFamily in 10.11).
