No Sound - Realtek ALC AppleHDA [Guide]

Youtube lags badly and doesn't want to play either...my guess due to sound.

ericklee84 I think it may be a problem with asus boards or bios. I have a similar problem and others do as well. The system is recognized but no sound. I thought this was an issue with ethernet at first, because all internet videos freeze. However I found the same to be true if I download video. It would be obvious then to blame the video card except there are no graphics errors in the osx, just audio and video. It really only leaves the mobo to blame and the comman thing among users complaining of this is we have asus boards. I don't think its all asus boards, but x99 seems to be a major factor, and spotty on x79. If you restore to non-patched applehda.kext it fixes the video freezes, but no chance at audio. Sadly, I have seem many instances of this posted online, but no support to fix it.

Thanks so much for your input @rbbunmc! I ordered an external usb card to see if I can get it to work. If that doesn't work then I guess I will buy a different mb :(

I see you have the x99, did you ever get sound up? It's a real bummer this mobo doesnt seem to work since I went off the recommended mb's from this site...

Sadly no. The audio fires up when getting in OSX, well I hear the "woosh" of signal firing through it, then it cuts off. I haven't tried the USB method, but it seems to work for most everyone that picks it up. The issue with freezing dates back to the release of x99 last year in forums, and possibly longer for other boards that had the issue so I wouldn't expect a fix soon. I'd say try the USB route or swap out for a recommended non-Asus board. I am sure there is a coder someone that could identify and fix what is causing the incompatibility, but that person isn't me :( I am not sure I have come across a working x99 Asus audio setup, although I am sure there are some out there outside of the top tier OC and WS boards.

@crot see my post 577. With an x99 asus you need to research the voodoo methods that have their own issues with sound or use usb speakers. I am looking for a fix online, but haven't found one yet. Tonymac86x and toleda offer excellent methods through multibeast and their patch program respectively, but its not an option for asus x99 owners at the moment it seems. If I find someone who gets/has it working I'll update with the method, but its not there yet.

What happened to dsdt/ALZA? One instance of HDEF is not correct. Attach native dsdt.

i have patched it with your maciasl patch from your repository. My origin dsdt is in my attachments.

best regards
frezy

Confirmed audio with this $5.99 plug-in-play USB Sound Card!

Now I will invest in a pro quality sound card and get to editing some video! Thank you so much for your help @Toleda

Out of ideas, suggest a clean bootable install (separate partition). Install only audio.

Thank you so much for your time help. I finally got it working through USB
