Using my old Mavericks guide here, I installed Mavericks 10.9 and used Multibeast v6.5.0 with almost the same settings successfully.

Note: my BIOS is patched using the method on my original post for the Mavericks install

I followed the Yosemite installation guide found here and proceeded to the Apple Store where I downloaded successfully the Yosemite upgrade and used Unibeast 5.0.2 to create a bootable USB drive.

With the USB Yosemite installer, I run the installation using -x flag, I wipe out the existing Mavericks partition and created a new one for Yosemite and proceeded with installing Yosemite successfully.

On first boot, I used again the -x flag and when i got in to Yosemite downloaded the Multibeast-Yosemite 7.0.2 utility and run it. Below are screens of my settings and successful installation...

Before rebooting the computer, i edited org.chamelion.Boot.plist and added the following string (in bold red)...
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>kext-dev-mode=1 dart=0</string>

so far, only rebooted twice successfully and still need to fully test the different features of Yosemite.

Thanks to TonyMacx86 site and to all its members who have shared their experiences to make things easier! I hope this simple guide helps!

Update: sound was not working so i read up on it and found that VoodoHDA v2.7.3 may work, so i re-run multibeast 7.0.2 and installed the driver. so far so good, several restarts and it works great.

i was also noticing slow internet speeds. did some research and read that you need to turn bluetooth off and icloud too if your not using it. since i hate bluetooth my mobo did not come with the feature, i was not also using icloud services and turned off everything and logged out from it. it improve surfing speeds but could not test it fully since my service has a bandwidth cap and i maxed it out already downloading Yosemite. hth!

I'm using a patched bios version 2015... you may want to try that first.

Come to think of it, i did notice the same sleep mode issues in Mavericks. it would work most of the time and then sometimes it just doesn't want to wake up. I have not tested Yosemite thoroughly since installation, will get back to you soon.

Hi, Thank you so much you for your guide it's really useful.
Everything is work fine but I have problem with restart/shutdown, the spinning loading wheel stay spinning all the time after restart/shutdown. Is their anyways to fix this? I use P8Z77-M(none Pro).
Do I have to use DSDT? and it would be great if you can post DSDT file.

unfortunately i never had to use DSDT.

patching the bios was quite easy, but make sure your using the right files. i posted the link in my Mavericks guide.

its been about 2 years now since i patched my bios. unfortunately, i do not have the files needed to backup my bios, no time to test it too. i think it would really be best to follow the guide and do this yourself or have someone else knowledgeable of the process do it with you.

update: the pmpatch tutorial link is gone. here is a link that may help you guys...

i found my bios in the archives, note this was from September 2013 and i do not have any way of testing this. Just to set things straight. using this BIOS on your own Asus P8Z77M-Pro is at your own risk!

I had the same issue and used voodoo as well, but now my speakers are static. Any ideas on a fix?

just for clarification, what do you mean when you say "my speakers are static"?

Sorry, I had to disable the mac drive to work on a project. i'll check into speaker issue you mentioned in a few days.

Hello v33!

Hate to ask but I am truly stuck,

Recently my P8Z77M-Pro motherboard broke out of it's own accord, and I had to send it off to be repaired (luckily Asus didn't realised it's BIOS have been flashed).

The mobo came back with Asus' default BIOS and needs to be reflashed to work once again, but it seems the repo I once used is now gone.

Your original Mavericks guide links to the old repo for your BIOS flashing instructions, using PMPatch with seems to have been replaced with UEFIPatch.

Basically if you have any help/guidance for patching my BIOS as I can't access the old guides and have no clue when it comes to these new tools.

I hope I'm not asking too much, I just really am stuck!

I am running BIOS version 2003, and can update to 2105.

Thanks so much!

- Chris
