z97n wifi user here, any way to add thunderbolt ?

Hello!

Ive been using this system

i7 4790k
ga z97n wifi + firewire card for audio production
16gb ddr3 ram
samsung 500gb ssd

on yosemite without anyproblem for a while.

I think it's time to upgrade to thunderbolt since my laptop has tb port, and i want to upgrade few audio gears.

are there any way to do this?

should I get gigabyte thunderbolt pci-e card? or buy new motherboard?

You need a TB port on the backplate or a TB bus connector on the board that you can connect to a PCIe TB card - for which you need at least a PCIex4 slot. You would need to upgrade your board to get TB and I have seen no mITX boards with TB ports onboard or connectors for a PCIe card. I only looked at 3 because I was curiious what they had but since I was not going to buy I did no serious research.
