After many months, I decided to try and get the audio output working on my Z77-DS3H board. I'm running ML 10.8.4. I've been using an iMic, which works great, so there wasn't a push. But since MultiBeast 5.4.1 is out I figured I'd try it out.
My board has a Realtek ALC887 chip, so I installed the ALC887 Current kext -- Legacy didn't work.
Turns out the Sys Prefs Audio output needs to be set to internal speakers to get audio out of the green output jack -- the line out jack settings don't work. This was also true for my older EP45 board and I had forgotten this.
