Hello guys,

I’m about to build my new hackintosh, thing is, I use Logic Pro 9 (can’t use X for now because of hardware, etc) but it seems to no longer work on High Sierra and above.

My setup will be Gigabye z390 Designare + i9 9900k + Saphire RX580 4GB OC.

Can I even install Sierra with this setup? Is a future update easy? Can anyone point a similar build?

Thanks!

Anyone please?

Sierra ended on September 25, 2017 when it was replaced by High Sierra.
The i9 9900K was born in the 4th quarter of 2018.
It is therefore most unlikely that there can be any support built into Sierra for the i9 9900K.
The RX 580 was released on April 18, 2017 so it may well be supported.

You may possibly be able to use the i9 9900K in Sierra with a FakeCPUID in Clover but I'm just guessing.

Thanks @P1LGRIM

I know it’s a long shot but maybe there’s someone in the same situation.

Yes, MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 should be able to run on your system. My system uses the same motherboard and graphics card (8GB VRAM instead of 4GB), only a different CPU (i7 9700KF), and MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 works well on my system. I also have MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6 and Mojave 10.14.6 installed on the system.

I want to point out, however, that I have not tried to install Sierra 10.12.6 on my current system. I just used a previous installation of Sierra 10.12.6 and it successfully boots on my current system. The RX 580 also requires the Lilu and WhateverGreen kexts to work with Sierra 10.12.6.

I don't need to use a FakeCPUID when booting Sierra 10.12.6 on my main system. Sierra labels the CPU as "Unknown" but it boots and works fine.
