how can I check this ?

Safest is to boot into SL and run multibeast again, the latest, and select bootloader and system utilities. However, i think you also see the version number of chimera if you hit space bar during the boot to enter boot options, upper left corner of the screen.

I thought I updated it before but installing it again solved the problem.

Man I'm a geek, but helping someone else out of something frustrating surely should help my karma.

I'm in LION now, running a time maching backup of the bootable install
