X99 Update to 10.10.5

Hi Guys,

so i did this Build:

Now i would like to Update from 10.10.4 to 10.10.5.
Im Afraid i could do something wrong and break my Build.

is there a Step by Step for Idiots like me, how to update an X99.

i already Clone my HDD.

Updating from 10.10.4 to 10.10.5 should not be a problem as long as you can see your display using nv_disable=1 for the GPU during the update. Basic steps are:

1. Clone/backup existing drive (you have done that)
2. download the 10.10.5 Update Combo
3. run the update, reboot, adding the nv_disable=1 boot-arg
4. download the 10.10.5 drivers for the GTX970 and install
5. Select to use the nVidia drivers from the pref pane
6. reboot.

Those steps worked well for an X99 build I did with a 5820K, although I am not having the same success with another build which features a 5960x (the processor took a few extra steps to get up and running, so Im wondering if I need to patch the kernel when updating?).

When booting in verbose mode, it remains stuck at the 'PCI configuration begin' screen.

This is the first time I've tried to update my X99 machine. X79 box was a snap - installed the combo, installed the web drivers, fix permissions, confirm trim and audio and roll. With the X99 I can't even get it to boot after the combo.

Anyone?
