x99 Motherboard Compatability

I have to ask - why would you consider an X99 in ITX?

Thanks Tom! Kiiroaka, I'm trying to build a portable music editing and performance workstation. The software I use (ableton) is super CPU intensive when I have all of my instruments running at once.

When I think "X99" I think Xeon CPU and 128GB of ECC RAM. When I see an X99 ITX mobo that costs $300 I wonder what one is willing to spend for the CPU and RAM. What I do know is that I can't afford an X99 system. :( (But I probably can afford a Mac Pro 5,1 with its dual XEONs.)

Then there is the ASR EPC612d4i: https://www.servethehome.com/asrock-rack-epc612d4i-review-mitx-xeon-e5-platform/ It can do quad channel with SO-DIMMs and 32GB of SO-DIMM DDR2133 should cost about the same as desktop DDR2133, currently about $200.
