Hi.

I'm helping a friend put a build together for Pro Tools 11.

one big question is whether 10.6.8 will work as he needs to dual boot to it for compatibility.

Thanks.

I do not believe that it would be able to run both as the x99 are for new CPUs that are not supported in 10.6.8. If it did work you would have a few issues that wold make it unusable. But that's in my experience thought, maybe someone got it to work flawlessly.

of course u need 2 SSD or Hdd...
It works, idont know how i did it but i made it one time.
I run Yose but now i wanted to have Snow leopard or Lion for the same reasen.
Pro tools run in Yose too but with visual Problems & i wanted to check if i can use more Plugs
in Snow Leo just to know & of cours to use it without this visual Problems.

I used a i7 5930k CPU Cinebench 11,5 in YOsemite is 13,86 with my in my GA X99 SOC FORCE @4,3Ghz
And i had the same result in SNOW LEOPARD TOO

Now i Use a E5 2699v3 but not with all cores caus it just wor with 15 Cores & Hyperthreading so 30 Cores or just with the 18 Cores. I use the same Kernel file like i used for the 5930k.
Cinebench 11,5 with 15Cores & Hyper in Yosemit is 21,88
Cinebench 11,5 with jus the 18Cores & no Hyper about 20.....

I tried & tried to make it again but didnt make it and now im tired of it.
So Maybe someone knows....

Now i remember. u can change the Snow Leopard Kernel with the VoodooTSCSync.kext
which is in this file

FileSort asc/desc Summary SizeSort asc/desc UploadedSort asc/desc
tsc.tgz VoodooTSCSync.kext 32/64 compiled on 10.7.3 w/ xcode 4.3 13.39 kB 2012-03-05

just need to put it into thisKext Utiliy Just open it &let it work than put it into it & let it work..thats it..

It works for a lot of 2011-3 CPUs.

With my i7 5930k i had the same cinebench 11,5 result like in Yose, so 13,75
Now i use a Xeon E5 2699v3 ,can only use the 18 Kernels witout hyperthreading with this Kernel in SL.
Cinebench 11,5 result, tried just 32bit, 18,68 (maybe more, about 21 with 64bit)

In Yose with another kernel file i can use all 18 kernels without Hyperthreading cinebench 11,5 = 20,85
Or 15 Kernels with hyperthreading
cinebench 11,5 = 21,88

So this S Leo kERNEL file works with all CPUs of the Socket 2001-3

Maybe u jaust cant use Hyperthreading with some Xeon CPUs

So with all those CPUs ------->
