X79-UD5 is EOL? What board to get instead?

OK, So I managed to get the UP4 up and running,

and a friend got the X79S-UP5, I also have this booting, BUT

I have to use cpus=1 and then its reported as a 1,2ghz. Everything else is fine!

install maverick 10.9.3
all work perfect, but this is the problem.

i need to connect more than 10 hard disk, so, i need

use SAS CONNECTORS.
when i connect hard disk in SAS connectors, the colour

grey connectors, they arent recognizes it, didnt

appeare in finder and disk utility.

can you????

you solve this problem??? a lot of people didnt know

this, and i dont know what to do.

please help me.

In terms of installation, there shouldn't be any difference between the boards.
The FireWire chip Gigabyte uses doesn't work well with OS X anyhow, so you can forget about that.

The reason I'm saying the UP4 over the UP5 is simply that half of the features won't work unless you get yourself a Xeon CPU. Your call really. Keep in mind though that Xeon's also need more expensive ECC memory.
