X58A-UD3R Slow Network

hey guys i have a x58a-ud3r with 10.6.5 installed on it and a server running 10.6.5 server with a h55n-usb3 and the speeds between the two via cat 5 cable is slow around the 30mb a sec i know its more then capable of over 60mb a sec why is it so slow both systems are using the Lnxtomac realtek driver i want to get the max out of both systems can anyone help please

30 MByte/sec (240 Mbit/sec) pretty typical.

must be cable length if i plug a small cat5 cable from one machine to the other i get 70-80MB a sec so my guess is the length of cable from one machine to the other isn't the best i just ran the cable hmmmmmm.....
