Installing El Capitan on the X58 with the latest Clover based UniBeast was a breeze. Just selected the Legacy bootlaoder version, created the USB and installed it.
I had a couple of unused Windows 7 Pro DVDs, so I sacrificed one. I installed Windows 7 Pro on its own SSD, then updated it to Win10. No problems.
Now I have the post install clean up.
First thing to do is download the post install tools. Run the Clover 3270 Legacy package to install Clover Legacy Mode. Then run the Customac Essentials package. I do not need the AppleE1000E nor the Killer2200, so I delete them after install has completed.
Next thing is to download and launch Clover Configurater. Mount the EFI if it is not already mounted, put my saved DSDT file in EFI/Clover/ACPI/Patched.
Wave the magic wand and select Mac Pro 4,1 as this is closest to actual Mac hardware.
Run toledo's patch for the ALC889 audio
Reboot.
At the Clover screen I am greeted with too many icons.
Boot Legacy HD1
Boot Legacy HD2
Boot Legacy HD3
Boot Mac OS X from MacIntosh HD
Boot Recovery from Recovery HD.
Time to clean this up, select Boot Mac OS X and get to desktop again to launch Clover Configurator and make some custom entries.
Legacy HD1 = Windows System Reserved, Legacy HD2 = Windows 10 C:\, Legacy HD3 is Windows Recovery.
So, create custom entries as follows:
Close out the Clover Configurator and edit the config.plist for my hardware with xCode - see attached.
