I cannot get USB 3 going and have ordered a compatible USB 3 PCI card, have audio working built in and USB.

My hard drive speed seems slow in Black magic, 280 write and about 375 read on a Samsung 250 GB PRO SSD.Anyone have any advice? I am also thinking of fitting another(windows on one) M.2 PCIe name drive, can this be done? Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Not a Desktop Guide - Moved to Desktop Support.

For your USB3 build in you can try this kext ( GenericUSBXHCI.kext.zip ) . It work with my Asus P9X79.

For your SSD, are you sure you are using the SATA3?
For your mother, the SATA seems like that:
Intel® X79 chipset :
2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), black
4 x SATA 3Gb/s port(s), black,
Support Raid 0, 1, 5, 10
Marvell® PCIe 9230 controller :
4 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), dark brown
ASMedia® ASM1061 controller :
2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), dark brown
2 x Power eSATA 6Gb/s port(s), green,

Use the good one...

The black do you mean?

The black port from de x79 chipset I think ( the SATA 6Gb/s ).

On my previous hackintosh I only had SATA 3Gb/s. I had this speeds with my SSD ( Samsung 840 Pro 128Gb ). The same SSD on my new hack and my spec are higher ( +/- 500Mb/s if I remember well ).
