I have GA-X58-UD3R rev2.0 mobo with FA revision of BIOS.

I see there are 3 new BIOS versions (FA not listed anymore).

Will I break anything with my installation if I upgrade my BIOS ?
I use DSDT for this particular type of BIOS and everything works (including USB3 ports).

I would be buying Time Machine 3 TB HD.
I see one of features of new BIOS is support for 3 TB disks.

If you mean a real Apple Time Machine you don't need a BIOS upgrade to use it.

If you mean an internal 3TB disk to use for Time Machine backups then you would probably need the upgrade.

I meant internal HD dedicated to time machine.

Anyways - I did update BIOS from Windows 7 disk (rescue disk with Win7, Win10, OsX .9 and .10) it went ok, I booted into Yosemite, everything ok as well.

Then later, I did something that made my dual BIOS to do checksum and overwrite itself so it's at FA again.

I believe (since it's a dual BIOS mobo) one BIOS did get updated to FH and other one didn't.

So it all depends on which you boot into. Im not sure how can I force it to boot into other, updated, BIOS.

Thanks

Any time you update the BIOS you should create a new DSDT from the new BIOS.
Sure the old one may 'work' but you may have stability issues or not gain any benefits of having the updated BIOS version.

Thanks.
I use DSDT from this database.
Never had problems with the old FA version.

As I said, my bios reverted itself after flash (it flashed itself back), so no worries.

I do feel the new one was quicker to boot (all those letters while POSTing were flying through instead dragging through).
