I think you guys should check this thread:

Very interesting.

Also there is a modified kernel for Ivy Bridge already:

Enjoy!

Only reason I'm not looking at the Gigabyte Board this time, is because I'm looking for an MATX model. The gigabyte MATX boards have unsupported audio/nic.

Most of the ASUS Z77 Boards will support a thunderbolt expansion card soon too.

Don't confuse the Asus ThunderBolt Audio card with the interface :?

The Asus thunderbolt expansion card is actually the interface made by intel. This is not the Audio card asus sold with their ROG motherboards last year as far as I know. I have read a lot of places that Asus are going to release an expansion card for their z77/h77 motherboards which are going to use an pci-e x4 slot in a week or so.

Just one of many places. Also heard from a guy at hothardware.com

Sorry, maybe I didn't make myself clear.

I am currently in a similar position to yourself and want to upgrade to a Z77 board. However currently they're still a fairly new release. Therefore what I was trying to say was that people can't really confirm whether they will work or not yet.

I know what you meant, sorry, i didnt mention that didnt i?
i'm making this in june (hopefully), so by that time, maybe a few people know about the compatibility of the z77 mobo
