Will this IBM 16gbx1 stick work for my mini-ITX build?

The motherboard I'm buying only has 2 slots for RAM and thus I'd like to start with just a single 16gb stick (so that I can later expand to 32gb). The only stick matching (what I believe are) the specs was this one:

Do you think this will work with the Asus Z971-Plus Motherboard (http://www.amazon.com/Asus-Z97I-PLUS-Motherboard/dp/B00K2R6E0Q/ref=cm_cr-mr-title)?

Can I ran with just one?

1) it's not the board but the processor that has maximum RAM amount limit.
2) Any stick will do as long as it is supported by your CPU (I guess we're speaking DDR-1333/1600 here)
3) It's quite possible that your CPU wouldn't use more than 16Gb or 32Gb - check ark.intel.com
4) One stick will work, however 2 sticks of same size/frequency/timing will work twice as faster (due to dual-channel memory controler in Intel CPUs
