Hello I have just finished building my first Hackintosh and have managed to get everything working apart from one thing, WIFI!
I have 2 different wireless adapters now both say they are compatible with Mac but when I try and get them working on OSX Lion, they wont work.
The adapters I have tried are, Belkin G Plus MIMO and a Edimax-Ew-7318usg
Both of these use third party software installed on Mac bu just say no device found.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.... can people tell me what USB wireless adapters they are using in OSX Lion.

I am using the Rosewill RNX-N150UBE from NewEgg.

It is a rather small dongle, but it has an external antenna, which is nice.

Unfortunately, the dongle is not easily stackable with other USB devices, so its probably best used on a front panel USB port, or on a rear panel USB port which is relatively isolated from the others.

MacOS X drivers are available from the manufacturer for 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6, and the 10.6 driver works well on 10.7.

WLAN drivers are available from the Realtek site:

Every few weeks the RNX-N150UBE goes on sale for $9.99 with free shpping.

Ok thanks there seem to be a bit of a shortage of Rosewaill part here in the UK, but in the last few hours I seem to have been able to get one of my current adapters working.
Here is a Guide for anyone in the same postion...

Ok so for the people who don't want the hassle of spending £30-40 on parts to build an internal airport I have found a solution that works for OSX Lion and that costs UK £4.
I spent the best part of today trying to get this working so I thought I would share my findings with anyone who wants to know.

1. Bought a Belkin G Mimo from Ebay for £4
2. Download the Belkin wireless software from website for OSX 10.4
3. Install Belkin software and relise that it does not work
4. Go to Kext.com and download RT73 Chip Kext http://www.kexts.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1096
5. Unzip RT73 Kext and place in HDD/Extra/Extentions
6. Download Kext Utility 2 for Lion, and run **this should install your wireless Kext**
http://www.kexts.com/view/1065-latest_kext_utility_x64_for_lion_from_cvad.html 7. Restart computer to get full speed wireless

P.S. If you can see the Mimo in the belkin software but cannot get connected, open network from system preferences to help it get started.

Although I wrote this guide for a Belkin G Mimo I think it should work for other types of USB wireless as well, you just need to find out your chipset for the adapter.
I found mine herehttps://help.ubuntu.com/community/H ... ardsBelkin
It reads chipset Ralink RT2671F, RT2528L (RT73) So by trial and error I found I just needed to search for the last part "RT73" and "Lion" as well.

Hope this helps some people as I found it very confusing and nearly gave up many times along the way, Just keep trying you can get there in the end.

FYI... Any device that uses the RA Linktech chipset can use the drivers by downloading them directly from RAlinktech

RA Link Tech

They are pretty great at supporting the USB drivers. My older PCI card they stopped supporting 64 bit

Ultimately, I did the macbook pro wireless card with a pci-e mini to pci-e adapter card which works out of the box because I was tired of chasing the latest drivers.

This article here will help you. It tells you how to (easily) assemble a 'genuine' Apple Airport card for your Hackintosh, no soldering required. What's more, it's so cheap to buy the parts, it will cost less than most good wireless cards, and it is ROCK SOLID.

You may have trouble finding the exact brand of mini pcie to pcie adapter mentioned, but any nameless one on ebay should do, just be sure to find one which has the aerials :)

I went this route with a wifi card from my Mac Pro. Just found a $5 (incl shipping) mini PCIe to PCIe x1 adapter on eBay with 3 aerials and it works fine. I actually have my hacked bluetooth module stuck to the frame of the card and the spare aerial is for bluetooth :) Beautiful

Nice! I'm using USB for Bluetooth atm but I might look into doing that too, in order to free up a USB port.

I'm not sure about either of your cards but I have the Belkin F7D1101 v1 usb wifi adapter. The driver was a pain to find but it works perfectly in Lion. I have attached the driver file. Cheers.
