White SATA on Ancient Gigabyte Hackintosh - El Capitan

You need to verify in the BIOS that the SATA controller is set to AHCI and verify in ioreg that SATA is coming under SATA not SAT0. Which will help of course.

Thanks! I'll be doing a little reading to make sure that I'm doing everything correctly.
 
I managed to figure out how to save an ioreg file from my system, and I have included it in this post.

Is this file supposed to tell me if the SATA is correct?

Everything seems to be working fine with my set up, including the new drive which I installed today.

From looking at ioreg. Your drive is coming under IDE1. Cant tell much without native extracted ACPI files. Do you have SATA controller set to AHCI or IDE in the BIOS? Most older hardware has its SATA shown under IDE anyway. Easy to fix.
