I use Arctic Silver 5, Arctic MX2 or Noctua NT-H1.

Yes, Arctic Silver is what I use too...

I do not recommend you use artic silver, it'll short out your board if a little bit even get's on it, use MX-2/4 it's safer and cools just the same.

For what it does, I do not consider that expensive. Better spend a bit on good thermal transfer than overheat the CPU and wind up buying a new one - now that can get expensive.

It's the same stuff m8? only cheaper on eBay.. MX - 4 is pretty damn good if I do say so myself.
