You should give El Capitan a try with that hardware.
Sierra or High Sierra supports only CPUs with SSE 4.1 instruction set.
Your Q6600 doesn't have that.

There is an option for you to run High Sierra. If you upgrade to a newer C2Quad CPU with SSE4.1. You'd need to check which ones are supported by your motherboard and BIOS.

Your 750 Ti would need the web drivers to work with High Sierra, just as it does to run El Capitan.
