( I initially posted this in the Post installation forum, but I think it is more relevant here, but any way...)
There is this James Bond Blu-ray pack just out and that is making me drooling ... and my wish now is to add a blu-ray player to my hack. So what are the models that you would recommend and which require the LEAST hassle ( I mean Out of Box, no fiddling around with injections, modifying kexts etc...) . I have read a few threads on this forum , there is the Pioneer BDR-207DBKS that is mentioned once or twice. Any other feedback about this or any other recommended player ?
And what software do you use? I have read that since Apple is not backing blu ray media (cos this doesn't make it earn any cent...) , there is no native reader in OSX. I would like a reader that can display the menus etc.. I have read about MACGO's player. It is not free though.

Help anyone?

generally, all the blu-ray players are charged. the mac go blu-ray player is cheaper than most of the blu-ray players. :beachball:

I've had good luck with LG UH10LS20 Blu-ray ROM optical drive in my HTPC build. However, it's no longer available.

Here's the LG UH10LS20 successor:

LG Black 12X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM SATA Internal Blu-ray Drive Model UH12NS30 - OEM

However, several of the reviews indicate that it's loud, which my UH10LS20 was not. So, I, too, am going to start looking for another unit. But, I know the LG units work.

BTW, Apple use to use Pioneer and now several Japanese optical drives.

Update: The Pioneer BDR-209DBK is the latest version of the BDR-207DBKS.
