Well, if that has some interest, I found this web looking for an alternative to new mac-WaitThisIsNotAnAshtray-pro for replacement of my 3 aged mac-pro 2007 not upgradeable to new OSX

Same boat for me last year when Apple upgraded to Mountain Lion and my 2005 MacBook hardware became obsolete. So, I did some research before jumping into, and building a Hackintosh. Followed Slugnet's Video Editor Golden Build. And works great, still did the whole thing not connected to the internet so had some issues. But the machine works, with both Windows 7 and OS X Mountain Lion and was eventually able to triple boot with Lion too. Now I'm gonna have issue again for the new Maverick upgrade, cause I had to download ML on my brothers MacBook Pro 2011 with my Apple id. It is always a challenge for those like me who don't have much financial means.
