What programs accessing my hard drive

I wanted to know if there is a program to monitor whats using my hard drive. I have had this Hackintosh running for around 8 months and it runs great however i have noticed i can hear the hard drive doing something constantly recently. I did the Disk first aid and all the permissions checks and fixes with disk utility but its still doing it and getting on my nerves. Im running

Mountain Lion 10.8.4
Processor 3.3 GHz Intel Core i3
24 GB Memory
Seagate Barracuda 3TB hard drive.

Any help would be appreciated.

It is usually mds/Spotlight when you see random heavy disk io. Try turning that off. You can also run:

sudo iotop

and sit and watch that for a while to see what shows up.
