What Monitor or Display Do You Use?

I use two Samsung units. The main display is a 27" Monitor/TV (T27B350), and the second is a 24" Monitor (S24B300). These are commodity units from Costco but they work great! The much-improved dual monitor support in Mavericks is fantastic. These are 1080p monitors but for me the quality is fine. Would be hard to justify spending the big bucks for a Cinema Display or some other higher resolution, higher cost monitors. My Sandy Bridge build has a 6870 graphics card, and this setup works really well. I don't use onboard graphics at all.

I just ordered a Samsung U28D590D 28" 4K monitor off of Amazon for ~$699 today:

Today is the first day I came across this monitor for anywhere near its MSRP of $699 since prior to this Newegg and Amazon both inflated the price by about ~$160 for a total of ~$860 USD.

It's capable of 3840x2160 at 60Hz unlike the Dell P2815Q (which has the same MSRP of $699) and the current Seiki 4K UHDTV models. For what its worth I tried a Seiki 39" 4K model and the 30Hz limitation didn't really bother me all that much. The size of the Seiki 39" was great too. It was fairly serviceable IMO but it did have some oddities. I also couldn't quite get the color settings to look right for video.

One of the things that makes the Samsung cheaper then other more expensive true 4K PC monitors is that it uses a TN panel rather then IGOZ. However this panel is presumably better then other TN panels as it resists the negative effect and color washing more so then the cheaper TN panels most people are likely familiar with.

While I have yet to receive the Samsung U28D590D 28" 4K monitor there are two relatively small things I dislike about it right off. I don't care for the nonadjustable stand (doesn't tilt, swivel or move in any way at all) and I don't care for the fact that there is no VESA mount to easily allow one to ditch the nonadjustable stand. I've been looking into this and I think I might have come up with a solution but it isn't a deal breaking issue either way.

Here is a review of the Samsung U28D590D 28" 4K monitor:

I have a Dell S2740L. I recently bought it and I absolutely love it. It's basically a Thunderbolt Display (glossy, same dimensions, etc.), but for 1/.3rd of the price, hdmi, and 1920x1080 instead of 2560x1440. I love it, I could really recommend it to anyone as long as you don't have too much natural light shining on the screen, as it is glossy after all.

How do you like it? It's been getting good review (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5YXWqhL9ik) and I'm also curious about the possibility of retina-type scaling in the future in OSX

I really like it. It's probably the best monitor I've ever owned. Great image quality and colors. Razer sharp and versatile since in OS X 10.9.2 you can run it at native resolution at 3840x2160 60Hz, 2560x1440 as well as 1920x1080 HiDPI (which looks amazing). I'll try updating to OS X 10.9.3 later today as this should yield better 4K support and retina-type scaling as you pointed out. It's SST (Single Stream Transport) so its not a tiled implementation.

The downside is there is no VESA mount and the stand is poorly designed IMO (only slight tilt support). It's Also TN but a very good implementation of it so I don't really consider it an issue.

Microcenter is currently selling the Samsung U28D590D for ~$599.99 and I think they will ship it so you don't need a local store near you:

I have two 27" IPS Auria 2560x1440 monitors and three 27" 1920x1080 ASUS TN monitors and they are all great IMO but the Samsung U28D590D is (at least to me) the alpha and the omega,...

Dual Display setup: Dell S2340M which gives me a 23" Cinema Display type view with it's glass panel and then an Asus VE228 which gives HDMI and speaker output.
