What is the text spinner I see for half a second for? Is it present in chameleon also?

I don't remember if it's part of the scan or the boot loader loading process. Either way it goes away very quickly.

If you want a real Mac like boot process edit your boot.plist with the following options:

<key>Boot Banner</key>
<string>No</string>
<key>Legacy Logo</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>Quiet Boot</key>
<string>Yes</string>

These options will take you from BIOS screens to Apple boot screen with no Chimera seen and no theme. Will boot the 1st bootable volume.

Thanks MacMan. I already have 'quiet boot' and 'legacy logo' set. What effect will 'boot banner: no' have?

Do you think setting 'default partition: x,x' will skip the text spinner, or speed up booting?
