I'm thinking about changing my laptop's NVME drive with a Western Digital Black SN770 500gb
Can someone (that uses it) tell me :
1) if it fully compatible wtih macos without the need of nvmefix.kext
2) if temparatures are high (and if a heatsink is needed for a laptop)
3) if power consumption is low.

Thanks in advance.

I do not use a SN770 but I have a bunch of SN750's. I do have a SN770 on my desk but it is still in a box. Waiting for me to replace my wife's Samsung drive. I am fairly confident that the SN770 will work just fine.

I do not use NVMEfix.kext on any of my SN750's

I have heatsinks that I added to the drive, One could not hurt but make sure your laptop has the clearance. I have a SN750 in my MSI laptop but for the most part the laptop sits in a back pack not being used. Current temperature while doing very little 59C on one and 42C on the other, the cooler one is the OS drive! However, the hotter one is kind of below the GPU.
3) if power consumption is low.
This is not a metric I generally track.

Thanks in advance.
