EDIT: back on sale 7/3/23 for $59.99.
WD has lowered the price to match the Samsung 980 Pro 1TB NVMe at $59.99.
That's a good drive but not for use as a macOS boot drive. TRIM problems that are not fixable.
The biggest advantage over other WD NVMe drives for macOS is that this has a DRAM cache the others don't.
Should have the best speeds and most durability of any NVMe that works well with macOS.
If you have a PCIe gen 4 motherboard, this is really the only option considering the 59.99 dollar price.
You should get just under 7 GB/s sequential read speeds. Can handle the heaviest work loads.
Forget about Samsung, Crucial and other brands that aren't proven to work as well with Monterey or newer macOS versions. WD has made the choice easy. Buy it, install it, install macOS and you're set for many years to come.
