Make sure to read the complete NVMe SSD guide in Ventura Desktop Guides before buying.
TLDR version: Get the SN850X if you want the best macOS system drive and money is no concern.

If you need a larger 2TB drive for another version of macOS or even to use for storage/backups, the Blue SN570 is the most economical choice. It is PCIe gen 3.0 so you won't get the speeds you would by using WD Black drives on a Z590, 690 or 790 build. Selling for $135 on Newegg.com or Amazon. The WD Black SN770 2TB sells for $15 more. If you only need a storage/backup drive it doesn't make sense to spend more than this.

Even the slower 2.5" Sata version (2TB) sells for more than this low $135 price.

If you need a lot more than 2TB of storage for large games and many 4 or 8K video files, you still can't beat an HDD for price per GB. Get a 6TB WD blue for just $79.99 or 4 cents per GB.
