Here is my build:
Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH X79
CPU: Intel Xeon E5-1650 V2 Hexa-core (6 Core) 3.50 Ghz Processor - Socket Fclga2011oem Pack - 1.50 Mb - 12 Mb Cache - 0 Mt/s Qpi - Yes - 3.90 Ghz Overclocking Speed - 22 Nm - 130 W - 158°f (70°c)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H60 (Water)
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 760
RAM: 32GB 1600MHz DDR3 (8x4)
Drive: Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 1TB 2.5-Inch SATA III Single Unit Version Internal Solid State Drive
Power Supply: Corsair AX 760 Watt Modular
Case: Corsair Graphite 600
Yosemite OSX
I first installed two SSD drives. 250 for the system and 1TB for sound libraries (I am a composer). They are working GREAT! I then installed 2 WD Black 2 TB SATA drives on the same power cable. Turned the computer on and POP! Smoke, and that lovely electronic burnt smell! Drives are fried!
I then tried two older SATA drives. One from Barracuda and another from Seagate. Both worked fine!
Has anyone else had this problem? I am also going to contact Western Digital about this. The drives were brand new and it looks like I am out $200!
