i had a working ML install for about 3 weeks now. No issues. Like an idiot, I updated my firmware to the new version that just came out this week (2002) and now I can't boot ML or even Lion unless I go down to 1 core and no hyperthreading. Unfortunately, this was a one-way upgrade (no reversing to a previous BIOS). I'm stuck on "waiting for root device" and all the "obvious" solutions to this problem don't seem to work (even tried a fresh, clean install). Haven't used a single-core system in years--its pretty painful folks.
If/when I find a fix, I'll update this but for now, I'd avoid the latest firmware unless you're having problems that require it.
