My eight year old PC (AMD based, no Hackintosh) seems to be at end of life. Last year the motherboard died, this week the PSU started smoking. I'd better get a new one now before loosing data.
Unfortunately we are in the transition phase from Sky Lake to Kaby Lake. And it seems that you get more for your money with Karby Lake. At least here in Germany the 7700 is cheaper than the 6700.
Therefore I'd like to buy an i7 7700 and a Z270 motherboard preferably from Asus or ASRock because Gigabyte has a bad reputation in the Linux community (Linux being my primary OS). I'd look for a successor of a Z170 motherboard that is known to work with MacOS.
I don't need MacOS now, I can wait a few month. Do you think my plan will work?
