Currently using Sierra 10.12.3. (Problem existed with older versions too)

Have been experiencing very high CPU usage on my Hackintosh when performing video related tasks such as playing movie from Quicktime or any other player, rendering movie in iMovie. Video in browsers works normally.

The CPU % of the concerned app rises over 100 and when checking with Intel Power Gadget the graph rises rapidly.

The Intel Power Gadget records normal values but as soon as video related tasks start the frequency of CPU increase as well as the CPU temperature & Wattage. This leads to reboot at times

Please help.

Have you solved your high cpu problem? I was running FCPX and my CPU is so high that sometimes it's really laggy, freezes or reboots my comp.

Have you solved your problem? I had the same issue...
