Hey guys,

I recently build myself my first hack, and while I'm setting up my custom watercooling loop, I'm looking into overclocking.
I'm running a i7 3770k on a Sabertooth Z77.

A friend of mine gave me his SSDT for his 2600k that has a hell lot of states going up to 5.0Ghz. I doubt I'm ever gonna use that on Ivy, but my aim is something at 4.8Ghz.
My question is whether I can use his SSDT and simply delete the steps that I don't need or do I have to create my own one?

Thanks!

As I understand it, it does not matter [all other things being fine] if there are more p states in there than you can use - as the system will ignore them if you overclock in Bios does not go that high. For instance on my 2500k I use a SSDT with p-states up to 5GHz, but my OC is only to 4.2 (and is fine). The problem comes in if there are missing p-states at frequencies lower than your target overclock.

Great, thanks.
If you're using one up to 5Ghz for 4.2Ghz, I assume you don't lack any p-states?
So I guess it should work for me aswell then..
