I've hit a wall trying to install Lion on a Macbook Pro, running Ubuntu Lucid.
- The machine: Macbook Pro 5,1 has broken DVD Drive
- External Apple Superdrive(USB connector) was used to install Ubuntu after all attempts with USB failed miserably
*the superdrive read a Lion Install DVD successfully but during loading the installer the superdrive just stops itself and then all hope is gone.
has anyone had success creating a bootable Lion installer from Linux?
at present I am on my last effort:
- used gparted to create 3 partitions on 8GB USB
-1st=mbr/syslinux /middle empty untouched /LAST is rEFIT on hfs+
- just dd =if of= the InstallESD.dmg to the /dev middle partition
testing this now.. but I could use some input if anyone can...
