I'm on Snow Leopard at the moment but want my Hackintosh to be on Mountain Lion. Obviously the usual method is to use Unibeast and make the USB stick as a bootable device. Instead of doing this, can I just burn Mountain Leopard to a CD and install it from there?

Thanks in advance :)

Ok, bummer! Was hoping I could burn it to a DVD and do it that way. I'll wait for my 8gb USB to turn up :(

Any reason we're meant to use a USB over a DVD?

Not enough room on a DVD?

Dual layer is 8.5gb so there is

USB installation is the only method this forum supports. If you own an external harddrive you can use that too.

Ok, I may try it through a DVD to see if that works. If I was to insert iBoot and then get to the Chimera menu and insert my Mountain Lion OS disc then press F5 to refresh I can't think why it wouldn't install this way? Unibeast doesn't seem to add anything extra to a USB except make it bootable... and a DVD already does that.

Anyone done it this way, out of interest?
