I am planning on upgrading the processor on my MSI Z370 Gaming Plus from an i3-8300 gen to i9-9900k. Are there any concerns I need to consider with my existing open core setup? Nothing else is changing

Check to make sure your motherboard BIOS version can support 9th generation CPUs like the 9900K. If not you may need to perform a BIOS upgrade using an updated version from MSI BEFORE you replace the CPU, and then after you replace the CPU you will have to reconfigure your BIOS settings as well as the BIOS upgrade will most likely wipe out your settings.
