Is that Gigabyte z97k ud3h Bk a typo ?
Do you really have a Z97X-UD3H-BK ?

If so, then you probably need to upgrade the BIOS to F5 (or above) for your 4790K - Gigabyte

Yes that's what i have. How do i upgrade, i can't get to BIOS screen or post.

You could take it to the shop where you bought it and ask them to upgrade it for you.

or

You could buy / borrow a lower spec processor and upgrade the BIOS yourself.

Good Luck

Is that really what's causing my problem? and if i do upgrade it myself how do i do it?

I don't know that it is causing your problem but it could be.
There have certainly been several similar cases that were caused by the late processor and the early BIOS.

If you want to know how to upgrade, read your motherboard manual.
If you don't have a manual you can get one on the Gigabyte website.
