Hi!

1st question:

Currently on my Bios I have the graphics configuration set to 256m, if I set it to 512m OS X loads with a lot of flickering and distorted image, is there a fix to allow 512m with proper graphics output?

2nd question:

My laptop is an Asus Q500A, it has an Asus Smart Gesture touchpad, is there a kext to allow better compatibility with this touchpad? Currently it works but it's kind of slow, not bad slow but response is not like when using Windows in which it works very smooth.

Thanks in advance!

Which "graphics configuration" setting are you referring to?

If it is ELAN (likely), search for drivers specifically for ELAN.

Advanced-Graphics Configuration

DVMT Pre allocated

32M
64M
128M
256M
512M

Pre Allocated (Fixed) Graphics Memory Size used by the internal graphics device.

Whatever value you set DVMT-prealloc to you must match it in the framebuffer.

I don't know which ig-platform-id you're using and your profile lacks important information, so that's all I can tell you...

Please provide complete details in your profile/signature
(Profile/Settings link in upper right corner of this site)

System: manufacturer/model + bootloader(Clover/Chameleon/Chimera)
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
Mobo: HP ProBook 4540s (Clover)
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx), and graphics capabilities. For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.

Sorry for the late response, updated info as per request:

Noob question, how can I provide you the ig-platform-id, how do I look for it?

So, no matter what setting I choose in Bios it assumes a DVTM prealloc of 64mg? When set to 256mb it has no issues, just in 512mb.

Best setting would be 64mb as that's what the framebuffer default is set to.

You can patch the framebuffer for whatever value you want to use, but the two must be in sync.

OS X may not work with all values.

Is there a guide available on how to patch the framebuffer?

When you say the two must be in sync you refer to the Bios setting and the desired framebuffer patched setting?

There is no need to change it (you should set your BIOS to 64mb). If you want to experiment, learn on your own time.

But you should probably focus on more productive tasks.

Yes.
