GA-Z87X-UD3H
CPU
i7 4770S
Graphics

Mac
  1. MacBook Air
Mobile Phone

Running Mavericks: i7 4770S on Z87X-UD3H using the HD 4600 graphics alone.

I've been experiencing total freezes (the ones where I need to reset the machine).

I keep looking through the logs and can't find anything even close to the time the freeze happens.

Otherwise, everything is working perfectly fine.

Here's the kernel log, maybe there's something there that I missed:

Recommend removing FakeSMC plugins. Locations here:

Motherboard Plugins
Installs FakeSMC plugins ACPISensors.kext, CPUSensors.kext, GPUSensors.kext and
LPCSensors.kext in /System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext/Contents/PlugIns.

I don't see any problems with said plugins:

2014-01-24 21:21:50 +0200 kernel[0]: HWSensors v5.3.820 Copyright 2013 netkas, slice, usr-sse2, kozlek, navi, THe KiNG, RehabMan. All rights reserved.

2014-01-24 21:21:50 +0200 kernel[0]: SMC: successfully initialized

Also, the sensors are working just fine, I actually like them.

My latest guess is it might be this problem:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/general-help/122498-network-load-seems-cause-wide-system-freeze-some-d3h-ud3h-boards-probably-others.html

I'll keep checking to see if the network is locked on every freeze.

I had same issue, i haven't installed any plugins. :beachball:

Im getting to the conclusion that mavericks may causes the crash. As long I'm unable to find out why theses freezes happen.

I've got the same Mobo and experienced the same freezes!!!
It's because this Mobo is extremely sensitive to incompatible RAM-modules. Nearly any 8GB unsupported module won't run! (You cen get the compatible List on gigabyte's site)

I recommend 2 modules or 4 of: "Crucial Ballistix Sport 4GB DIMM DDR3-1600".
I've got 2 mobos with this RAM without any Problem, as soon i stick a 8GB module in it, it crashes.

http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-z87x-ud3h.pdf

Thanks for Reply, your H87n runs osx without issues?

My 8gb Ram is on the list from Gigabyte :banghead: .... might this is still an issue?

Sry choosed the wrong post to quote, I've got the Z87X-UD3H, but the RAM could be a problem too despite the List. Just try 2x 4GB. You could try to adapt your DRAM voltage from 1,5V to 1,6V this might fix your issues and disable any Intel Virtualization tech.

Ok,

an update on this.

I reinstalled Mavericks, didn't install hw monitor plugins, CHANGED system definition to iMac (was using Mac Pro before).

As per a suggestion found in another thread, I manually tuned my RAM voltage to 1.655 (as opposed to 1.65 that the vendor recommends). I'm yet to test if this had any effect at all.

I'm still experiencing some of these freezes currently, but it's different than before (now I get them like once every few days per average, specially when I'm not at the computer).

Now they rarely happen and when they do, they keep flooding my wired ethernet router (this problem here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/general-h...eze-some-d3h-ud3h-boards-probably-others.html)

As for RAM sticks, I'm running on 4 x 2G Kingston sticks, seems to be holding fine, had Windows / Ubuntu before on the same configuration with no problems at all.
