Hi everyone! I have been on this site a lot in the last 3 months trying to decide what my build is going to be for my hackintosh pro.... But I have run into a problem. I do not know where to go from here, so I hope you guys can help out in finalizing this for me!
So originally I was hoping for a beastly 6 core, 64gb ram, 500gb ssd +3tb hdd, 4 tb, 1080 build. But then I realised there's a lot of that in the hackintosh world that just can't go together, specifically the 4 thunderbolts and the 1080... So now I was deciding between one of two things. BOTH Builds will end up having:
-I can get an OC gtx 970 4GB from a friend for like 100, so I was going to keep that as my card until I can get a 1080 in the build.
-Ballistix Sport LT 64GB Kit (16GBx4) DDR4 2400 MT/s
-2x Samsung 500gb SSDs/1TB Samsung SSD/3tb Seagate HDD.
Now here is where the builds deviate. I can either get a TB supported z87 Motherboard, with i7-6700K with the TB extension to get 1 thunderbolt to work on the build.
OR
I can get either a 6 core processor (also torn on if it should be a 5820k or 6850K) and which motherboard would be optimal for that.
I mostly do video editing, and rendering, this is my job. So I will be using it a lot.
So guys, any advice? In both cases this build is only lasting about a year until I do the 1080 upgrade and change out the motherboard and CPU for the eventual TB support coming, because I optimally want 2 TBs AT LEAST, in the future. But for now I can live without it, they aren't a necessity. And I know that either 6 core will be more powerful for rendering, but how much more powerful is the question? Because I have not seen anyone build a recent 6 core hackintosh, why is that?
Money is only somewhat an object.
