Hi Guys,

I wondered if I could get your thoughts on this build before I buy in all the parts tomorrow. I’ve researched as best I could throughout the forum and from the build guide list, I just want to double make sure everything is compatible or if you had any better suggestions for the components I’ve selected.

I don’t really have a max budget so if you think I should go for different models or replace anything in the list I’m all ears :)

The machine will be used for pro audio work and running Logic x, Protools 12 and Ableton. Some high track counts and heavy string and sampler libraries etc on a fresh install of Yosemite. I have two screens (one a large TV and the other is a BENQ monitor) so wanted to take advantage using both of them split via HDMI if I could, so I tried to pick the cheapest GPU but workable option I could.

  • CPU : Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor
  • MB : Gigabyte GA-X99-UD4P ATX LGA2011-3
  • GPU : Gigabyte NVIDIA GTX 750Ti 2GB PCI-E Graphics Card
  • RAM : Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4 2666MHz CL16 XMP 2.0
  • Cooling : Cooler Master Seidon 120 Ver2 120mm Radiator/1x120mm Silencio Fan CPU Liquid Cooler
  • PSU : Corsair RMi Series RM750i ATX/EPS Fully Modular 80 PLUS Gold 750 W Power Supply Unit
  • FANS : Corsair CO-9050006-WW Air Series SP120 Quiet Edition 120mm
  • Case : Fractal Design Define R5 USB 3.0 Mid Tower Windowed PC Case - Black

I already have the following I’m going to take from my existing build:

  • HDD Main : Samsung 840 EVO 1TB
  • HDD Storage: 1 x Western Digital 2TB SATA 3.5IN 7200RPM
  • Soundcard : RME FireFace UCX (Supports both Firewire 400 and USB)

Really love being part of this forum, so many fantastic posts and such a great site.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Best,
Dale

Im considering doing a VERY similar build to this.

Are you concerned at all with the mediocre reviews of that Mobo?

That's the only thing holding me back.

Hey, if I'm honest I am a little yeah. Really one of the main reasons I was hoping to discuss it here to see what people thought about it or if they have experience with it / already using a similar set up.

Would love to make this build last for a while so was trying to get the latest setup I could, I've researched on the forum and there's been some success stories but wondering if it might be better going for something recommended in the buyers guide?
