Thinking of buying an ATI 5970, what's your opinion?

Hi guys!

Right now I have a working Hackintosh, with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 running smoothly on a PC with Asus Maximus Formula X38, 8 gigs of 1066MHz DDR2 memory, Intel Q9550 and an XFX NVIDIA 8800GTS 512MB XXX Edition "Alpha Dog".

I want to upgrade my GPU and thinking of buying an ATI 5970 2GB that a friend of mine sells. Also I have a proposal for an ATI 5870 1GB.

The two cards costs the SAME for me!!! (My friend doesnt want to sell me his card expensive) They cost €150 per card (5870=150 euros and 5970 also 150 euros)

What do you think? I want to buy his 5970 but I dont know if it works OK! I read somewhere that it is incompatible with Mac OS X Lion..

What I must do?

There are some 58xx cards documented in the Wiki's Graphics Cards Compatibility page, but they're old. (So is the card in today's standards.) wiki/index.php/Graphics_Card_Database

I also recommend you use the Forum's Search function to see if anybody is successfully using a 5870 and/or 5970. I can't remember reading about them since we kinda went from 5770's to the 6850/70 cards on the Forum.

5970 and 5870 are faster in Windows Gaming than 6870. I forgot to mention that I have a Dual Boot system (Mac OS X Lion and Windows 7 64bit Ultimate)

Thats why I want one of those...
