On a related note, any of you 660ti/670 owners have Ableton Live installed? I'm asking because the other day I found out that with my HD6870, Ableton crashes on load if I have GE=0. The card works perfectly with GE=0 but Ableton will only run with GE=1. No idea why.

cuz HD6870 with GE=No it will reorganize the HD6870 as readion 6xxx , so the some app will not work like DVD Player etc , but with GE=Yes all apps will run perfect . anyway with 6xx nvidia card its work OOB and its reorganized as the name of the card so there is no problem and it will run all programes with GE=No

That's not correct. My 6870 appears fully working (outputs, DVD, chess, openCL, unigine) with GE=no. Just Ableton crashes. So apparently it's not 100% with GE=no. But good to hear the gtx 6xx should be fine.

<edit> should have said that this is on 10.7.4 </edit>

Apart from the FCPX issue that's reportedly fixed now, are there other signs of sub-optimal functioning of kepler cards? I know 2+ displays don't work and I don't care about sleep. Might pull the trigger on one soon but I gotta rely on it for professional production...

I'm having and issue with the DirectCU II version from Asus of this card, when I try to watch web videos, the video doesn't show, giving green and weird things instead, and then the computer freezes so that I cannot do anything.

Anyone having the same problem?

Thanks in advance

I had the same issue with that card, it was bit hard to figure it out, but finally changing smbios from MacBookPro to iMac or MacPro solved that prob for me.

Well tomorrow I am going to pick up a 670 card, possibly the Gigabyte card here:
http://www.microcenter.com/product/...e_GTX_670_2048MB_GDDR5_PCIe_30_x16_Video_Card

I'll test it out and see if it improves things. If not, back it goes.

ElKanyeEast, why do you reccomend that MSI card in particular? They don't carry it at my local store, but if you think there is a compelling reason to wait for that one I can.

If I were you I would try a different manu. than Gigabyte for your card, I only say this because there evidently is some differences in how manufactures implement these cards and their bios. And this is why some people will have no problem with compatibility, and someone else with the same model, different manufacturer, will be incompatible. That is why I bought the EVGA instead of another Gigabyte like I had with the 660ti.

Heres another tidbit for owners of 6xx series Geforce cards. To get open CL to work on my Card which is a 4gb model. I had to do the simple 2 byte hex edit. Because open cl is disabled by Mountain Lion, if it thinks your card is larger than 2gb. This could also apply to owners of 2 GB cards also. I did this in conjunction with enabling driver support for my 670 in multi beast 5.xxx. Heres a link to this process Don't mind the p.s. at the bottom of article, trust me, the drivers alone from multibeast without this edit, did not enable open cl. Luxmark would not run because could not find open cl device. Did the edit and all was well.

Actually, this only applies to cards that have MORE than 2GB of GDDR5. Cards with 2GB will run fine and won't need any modding to get them working. This is mentioned on the 1st Post

Another Micro Center Customer? Blasphemy! Yea I know they don't carry the MSI variant, so what I might suggest is either the Gigabyte: http://www.microcenter.com/product/...TX_660_Ti_2048MB_GDDR5_PCIe_30_x16_Video_Card or the Zotac: http://www.microcenter.com/product/...TX_660_Ti_2048MB_GDDR5_PCIe_30_x16_Video_Card.

And why do I like the MSI version? Because it has triple over volting, which means that it overclocks better than any other card (90mhz OC vs 200mhz+ with MSI)

Another version I would recommend is the Galaxy variant, because it's the quietest out of all the cards while maintaining awesome temperatures. You can find all these links on the first post

Are you sure? I thought it was a literal 2000 mb limit, so 2 gigs, which is actually 2056 mb or whatever does cross the line. I applied that fix to my msi 660ti 2gb card. I'm sure I mentioned this earlier in the thread :)

Looking at my notes it seems I did the 2gb fix to openCL framework and the replacement of libclh.dylib in GeForceGLDriver.bundle at the same time – so I have no way of telling if its really necessary. I had working openCL after applying the two anyway.
