system not recognizing keyboard. please help.

so ive been running lion for a while on my hackintosh and its been working very well, bu recently it has not been able to recognize my key board so i cannot log in to the system at all. please help. i'll provide any needed info to help. so far ive tried booting in safe mode and that has gotten me nowhere. also, thee mouse works and i can move it to the password field, just no typing. thanks in advance.

Are you using a PS2 keyboard with the PS2 enabler? My system does exactly as you are describing. Sometimes I can make it work by sleeping the computer from the login screen by clicking Sleep. Then waking it up again and the PS2 keyboard finally wakes up.

And for giggles, today my USB keyboard decided to do the same thing when I woke it from sleep. I had to unplug it and plug it in again for it to finally wake up and get detected properly. Hopefully some of this helps.
