It took me 3 goes to find a CF card reader that works with my Hack.

Stay clear of:
- Icy Box IB-863-B http://www.raidsonic.de/en/products/mm-cardreader.php?we_objectID=7499
Despite it saying it's a Superspeed USB3 device the card slots are USB2 and the only thing that's USB3 are the 2 USB3 slots, which, are connected via 2 passthrough cables to two USB3 slots at the back of the case. Basically 2 USB3 extension cords.

- Bitfenix USB 3.0 Card Reader http://www.bitfenix.com/global/en/products/accessories/usb3-card-reader/
I couldn't get this to read my cards at all. The USB3 port worked, but inserting a CF Card did nothing. Didn't even mount. I returned the unit and the shop said that it worked in their test rig, so not sure if it's a Hack issue or something else

This one works:
- Thermaltake Extreme Speed 3.0 Plus USB3.0 Multi-Card Reader http://www.thermaltake.com.au/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001923

syd,

I'm not sure what your setup is, but I have been using the Bitfenix USB 3.0 card reader in my hacks for a while now. I usually build dual-boot Windows 8.1/OS-X systems, but I don't think that would have anything to do with a card reader working or not.

I have actually tried several USB 2.0 card readers with no luck in a hackintosh (Windows is fine), and the Bitfenix was the first USB 3.0 reader I tried. Since it worked the first time, I have been using them ever since.

Again, my setup most likely differs from yours.
