Super Fast Until Render / Export / Copying Files

My hacintosh is super fast, works great except the second I copy files or render a video or anything that's intensive it slows to such a crawl I can't type because it will skip letters, the mouse won't move smoothly at all. I'm not doing anything crazy that my MBP wouldn't be able to handle. Any suggestions on what this can be?

Open Activity Monitor and see what much CPU usage you have. If your using 100% then, your computer will definitely slow to a crawl during this time.

It says Idle 80% 940 threads. I would imagine when doing something like this it'd use one of the Processors but as it's a quad core I would imagine it would allow the other cores to process normal use. Thanks

Depends. If your using a program like FCPX, it will utilize the entire CPUs bandwidth.

Okay, that is odd. Try using a program like Prime95. While it is working the CPU try to see if you can use simple programs like Safari, Mail, etc...
