Hi All,
I am looking to build my first hackintosh. I have gathered up parts here and there as they went on sale. Hopefully most of these will work well together.

Items that I currently own

Mac OS X version 10.7 Lion
NOTE: Will be using OS X 10.7 from my previous app store download

SUGGESTIONS:
Looking for a bluetooth adapter to pair with Magic Mouse

NOTES:
This build will be my first venture into building a hackintosh. I have built several pcs before for my house so I have some pc building experience. Once this build is up and running I will look to give as a gift for my parents.

I will be using the integrated graphics, stock cooler, and no over-clocking. This will be just a day to day hackintosh. I will be using the SSD as my boot drive with the 2TB drive as extra storage for bigger files (music, movies, etc).

I am looking for suggestions on this build and if there will be any compatibility issues. I have followed pretty much all of tonymacx86 suggestions from his blog post. I now am looking for a bluetooth adapter to pair with my magic mouse.

I used the Jabra A320s usb bluetooth adapter. It is recognized as Broadcom and seemed to be out of the box compatible. I tried it with the Apple Trackpad and Wireless Apple Keyboard. You will be glad you chose a wired Apple Keyboard as you can't get to the BIOS screens with a bluetooth keyboard. I am still using a wired apple keyboard and trackball rather than my apple trackpad at this time.

I am using the same Motherboard without any issues. Unfortunately, I also ordered the Vengence memory with the big fins and had to exchange them for the version without the big heatsink fins (which do nothing) as they will NOT fit in the slot next to a large heatsink and can't be removed without removing the heatsink. It is probably not a problem with the Intel provided heatsink, though. I used the I7 processor, but the I3 with the HD3000 is a good choice. I used the display port output from the motherboard with an adapter to mini-display port and a 2500x1440 display resolution to a 27 inch Apple Cinema with sound through the display port. It is a beautiful high resolution display!

I am using 4 of the WD 2GB green caviar drives and they work well provided that you use the WD Utility to align the partitions after partitioning is completed.

I used the Coolermaster 212 with a Sythe fan which runs cool and quiet with the processor.

Temporary limitations still exist with my install include booting multiple operating systems, XP, Win7, Lion, and Linux from the Chimera boot screen. Sleep does not work properly (or at all). Not completely satisfied with Bluetooth operation and have not attacked WiFi or Remote Control yet.

My system works exceeding well with my 27 in Apple Cinema display, but these systems didn't work well with my displays with HDMI (no audio) or Analog VGA Ports (which basically didn't go above 1024x768 unless you are running Windows, and didn't work at all with Graphics Enabler =Yes turned on).

I don't consider these temporary limitations as show stoppers and my system works very well. You can't do many of those things with an iMac either!

These processors are very fragile and you need to be careful installing the processor on the mother board. Mine went ok, but the pins look very fragile.

Good luck and let us know how your progress goes.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll go ahead and look for one of the Jabra a320s bluetooth usb adapters. I'll be using a logitech mouse till I get the adapter in. I should have a wired mouse lying around somewhere. I will keep my progress updated once I get the build going.

Is there another suggestion for a bluetooth adapter? Shipping seems to be a killer for the Jabra A320s so are there any other alternatives that work just as well? If not I may just go with a wired mouse since I will be using a wired keyboard. Another idea would be to just use a logitech wireless mouse instead of re-using my magic mouse.

My apologies. I just realized that my system was not truly going to sleep. It's what I prefer, since I use it for iTunes server for tv, etc... ; however, I just put the machine to sleep and found that my USB keyboard and bluetooth didn't wake up properly.

When I find a solution for this, I will let you know.

I built up the system and the install went rather smoothly. I ran into a couple of issues though.

First is my optical drive is being read as being hot-swappable even thought I used the option in MultiBeast to install 3rdPartySata and I also disabled Sata Port Native mode.

Second thing I ran into was that my system went to sleep and woke up fine but when waking up from sleep I no longer have an internet connection. On the network settings it shows a connection and I have an IP address but when I try to open up a site in Safari or Chrome I cannot connect.

When Apple first announced BT compatibility with OS X waaaay back in the day, this was the first Apple "approved" adapter:

I've still got a couple & was going to try with my Mini Hack... If you can still find one, I'll bet it'll work OTB...
